Dahlia Vestamore

Oddly enough, a character I draw all the damn time, yet still hadn't worked out really how she should look. I always had a general idea, but no specifics. The full body one is ok. Not quite what I want, but on the right track. The portrait is much closer to how I want to show her. I want that sort of tragic, faded beauty to her. Sickly looking. Bags under the eyes. Dim eyes. Too thin. She's been a bit tricky to develop for various reasons my sleepy mind can't put into fancy words right now. So that's that for now.

I created this image for an application to Filament Games(They have a lot of sweet, solid artwork in their games). Tried something a bit different than what I usually do. I still made a mess, but I contained the mess. Organized chaos? Kind of, but no.

The Two Princesses

I'd say "Oh yah, Newgrounds is back up", but I also put it on my fancy website. So here is my flash animation The Two Princesses. For anyone who pays enough attention, this intentionally vague, flat fairy tale/horror story is basically an intro to the story that I've been doing art for for a great deal of time. Basically 95% of what I draw these days has to do with this story. Even though it's hard to notice many of the connections just yet.

Back to the Start

So I'm starting to realize that I keep getting ahead of myself with art. I want to go straight to the final piece, gaps in my knowledge be damned. So right now I've decided to really focus on drawing. Really FOCUS on it. I always claim that I am a bad sketchbook person, but I'm starting to think it was because I doodled more than sketched. I should have focused a lot more energy on each little drawing. I also want to improve my line art skills. So here are some of the better sketches I did while brainstorming for a character.

Oh yah, and this lady

This is the same woman I drew two posts back: Beatrice. Started this before all that concept work, which I see now was probably the wrong order of steps. But oh well, getting more cozy with Zbrush. Modelling, that is. Need to figure out lighting and rendering in general. Hmm...

Various Tidbits of Nonsense

Note: I believe the only reason I neglect this blog is because Google insists on taking over ALL of the things which leads to them wanting to COMBINE all of the things. But I want multiple things, so combing all the things forces me to be kicked off this account whenever I use a different one else where and and and....things. Damn you, Google. Leave my things alone. (Things = Youtube, blog, the universe)

Well, I posted my animation on Newgrounds(and it got on the front page, which is SO sweet) and I would soooo link you to that fun time. However, Newgrounds is in the process of being fancified, so that'll have to wait for another post.

PS. My descriptions are going to ramble a lot more from here on out. My writing(and motivation to write) has gone to hell since I've stopped being a narcissist. Those were the good ole days. So what does that mean? It's time to take a million MySpace photos of myself wearing a bucket of eyeliner, talk about how Valentines is so much better with fairy wings and ice cream, and assume there are people actually paying attention. LOLZ LOLZ SO RANDOM! MONGOOSES EXPLODING! But seriously, folks, my keyboard is going to suffer a fatal injury.
